2023 Australia Day Extravaganza
The 2023 event will be delivered as a partnership again between the Shire of Dumbleyung and Wuddi Cultural Tours; showcasing and celebrating local Aboriginal culture, food, song and dance.
Wuddi Cultural Tours are a major tourism business based in Dumbleyung that offer authentic Aboriginal tours, food tasting and cultural experiences, owned and run by Grant and Anne Riley.
The day begins at 10am with a Welcome to Country, Shire President’s Welcome and the Citizens/Community Awards. The Shire’s focus for the event is paying our respects to Aboriginal culture with displays such as a traditional smoking ceremony, dance and song, storytelling, bush medicine workshops and didgeridoo demonstrations, bark painting, free Wuddi Cultural Tours.
For lunch there will be a free sausage sizzle with a twist! A selection of kangaroo, emu and crocodile sausages plus, there will be food vans to chose from.
Until 3pm, there will be kids’ activities such as waterslides (dont forget to being your towel), face painting and bouncy castles, as well as local vendors, food vans and market stalls.
Come back at 6pm for a free picnic supplied by the Dumbleyung General Store, (BYO) and live music by the band Masterplan. Don’t forget your blanket.
