National Cartoon Gallery @The Bunker, Coffs Harbour

Known as the spiritual home of cartooning in Australia, The National Cartoon Gallery @The Bunker in Coffs Harbour is the only gallery of its kind. Their entertaining and thought provoking exhibitions change regularly, as well as workshops, movie nights, performances and other special events for children and adults. You’re bound to find something to make you smile at the bunker!

Housed in a unique heritage-listed RAAF underground WWII bunker, converted to a funky exhibition space, the Gallery is the custodian of the Coffs Cartoon Collection, with well over 23,500 cartoons from leading Australian and international cartoonists, including private donations and bequeaths of rare works.

Its role, although different from its wartime past, is still one of communicator and protector of Australia’s history, albeit in satirical form. With a multi-million dollar renovation underway they encourage you to watch this space!
