Ben Tankard is a painter, living and working in the Blue Mountains near Sydney. He has been a finalist in a number of art prizes, including the Sulman, Mosman, Gallipoli and Calleen prizes, and in 2019 he was the winner of the Hawkesbury Art Prize. He has had solo and group shows at galleries around Australia including the Hawkesbury Regional Gallery, Gosford Regional Gallery, Grafton Regional Gallery and the Campbelltown Arts Centre, and his work has been collected around the world. 



The Monopoly series began in 2016 and is a humourous examination of the classic boardgame, often with an ironic or subversive twist. Some recurring themes include money, obsession and greed, pop culture, the unpredictability of life (as in the game, where a roll of the dice decide your fate), and a sense of playfulness, nostalgia, and gentle absurdity.
